Sennheiser IE 80 EAST In-Ear Headphone

Truly Amazing
I've been using below average headphones and IEMs... then I thought it's time for me to get myself a decent headphones because I love listening to classical and soundtracks. I started looking at $200~ range headphones like HD598, and TripleFi 10 IEMs... but after I tried out my friend's HD598 and HD650 then I realized I prefer IEMs over over-the-ear headphones, so I decided to spend more and find myself a nice pair of IEMs that is at least on par if not better than HD650 in SQ wise. After a week of research, reading feedback, reviews, comparison between Westone 4R, Shure SE535, IE80, I settled down on IE80. I was a bit skeptical if I can hear any noticeable different with these $450 IEMs than my other crappy ones.... but after I listened my FLAC collection with IE80 thru HT OMEGA eCLARO 7.1 Channel PCI Express x1 Sound Card, I can tell you, when people say they can now hear what weren't there before with these...

Awesome earphones !
I have upgraded from a set of Klipsch X10i to these Sennheiser ie80 and I am delighted.
You will see from reviews by audiophiles that Sennheiser did correct the faults of the preceding ie8 with the ie80 ... No need to correct the lower end sound signature of these earphones with the equalizer of your system, as was often the case with the ie8 model.
These earphones are very confortable, can be worn in bed, on a sun lounger as they fit snugly inside the ear (not sticking out like the Klipsch X10i) ... the wire is removable so any breakage there would just require an easy wire replacement ... No cable friction noise to speak of either... I have actually sourced an original Sennheiser replacement cable for the older ie8i model (with built-in microphone and controls for iphone)to fit to my new ie80 and it all works perfectly with my iphone 4s.
Their build quality is very good, no obvious weakness...
The sound quality is just awesome, very clear and detailed, with a...

Warning, you are now entering audiophile territory!
Anyone aspiring to be an audiophile would have heard the name of these IEMs, they are one of the very best around and only a few are in the same league as this one.
The IE80 was released a few years ago, following the IE8 which was for a long time, the best that Sennheiser had to offer in this regard. Lets cut the introduction short.

This review is not an Audiophile perspective. Its just my experience after one years usage. While it may not give you side by side comparisons with rival products, it will give you an idea of what the IE80 truly is.

Short version of review:
------------------------
If I had to tell you about the IE80 in one line, then I would say, you will not be disappointed by these IEMs no matter what. Sound quality and build quality are top notch. Bass and mids are fixed from the IE8, which was the main complaint of certain users. Sound stage is excellent. Metallic finish is awesome. No complaints in any department. It retails at...
