BEST I'VE USED
This product REQUIRES a separate transmitter. It's meant to be an additional pair of headphones for use with Sennheiser RS 170 Digital Wireless Headphone with Dynamic Bass and Surround Sound. You can read my full review of that product on that page. Here is an excerpt that applies to the headphones specifically:
RANGE and CLARITY: Hands down, the most important issue in wireless headphones, and this pair EXCELS way beyond anything I've used. I get clean signal over 100 feet away, through a brick wall. I get clear signal while using my microwave (unless I'm standing within 1 foot of it). Always fast to pick up the signal, with nearly ZERO interruptions in signal after months of use (the Sony DS6000 may edge this pair out for sound quality, but has serious problems with intermittent signal interruptions).
SOUND QUALITY: The second best sounding pair I've ever used. With bass boost and...
Great headphones, some trouble setting up.
I've already reviewed the Sennheiser HDR 170 with the transmitter. In this review, I'm mostly going to discuss the experience of associating the headphones with your transmitter and using multiple headphones at the same time.
First, in the box, you receive the headphones, a pair of AAA rechargeable batteries, and a manual. As before, installing the batteries was pretty simple.
Associating the headphones using the manual provided was somewhat difficult because the manual, although 130 pages long, only has about 8 pages in English, then 8 pages each in 14 other languages. The part about associating is a single page in the middle of the manual, all illustrations, that pretty much tells you to turn off both the headphones and the transmitter, then, with the two within 1 meter of each other, hold the power button on each for 7 seconds.
When it comes to using multiple headphones for the receiver, the manual provided with the extra pair is useless; you...
Difficult to Use
It can be handy to have a second headset operating off of the same transmitter, and the sound quality for this device is exceptional. Unfortunately, the absence of charging capability on the second headset means that one must rotate the two headsets through the same transmitter, which also serves as a charger. This major inconvenience is noted in the product title, and so I am writing this review only to highlight the shortcoming: don't expect to use a second headset with the same transmitter without a MAJOR ongoing inconvenience.
Three Months Later - None of the other reviews actually address the use of the second headphone, which is what is being sold here. Bottom line - it doesn't work, at least not the way it is marketed. 1) The second headphone won't work without an elaborate process to match the transmitter to multiple headphones. (Just pairing a second headphone actually disconnects the first.) Even then, whenever the transmitter is turned off or the power...
