Great sound, great range
Just unboxed this and tested it out. I gotta say I don't understand some of these reviews from people saying how much they suck and how cheap they are and how poor the range is. The sound is pretty much the best headphone sound I've heard, short of the sound you can get out of $400-500 MM550s or Dr. Dre Beats or other noise cancelling+SRS headphones. But the range is fantastic for my needs. I can go everywhere in my 3000 sq/ft house with no droppage or static. I can go to the end of my 50 ft. driveway and then it starts breaking up. So, can I get 300M or whatever they claim here? No, but that's line of site I'm sure. I can get everywhere in my 3 story home and all the way around the outside of the house and the garage.
I also was able to pair up a second pair of RS 180s very easily. I don't get the guy who claimed the manual stunk. It said how to do it...I did it...it worked. Essentially, hold the ON button down on all the headsets for 7+ seconds, then hold the ON...
Great headphones. No charger
These are great headphones. I'm very happy with them with two exceptions. As many people have noted, the volume and power buttons are small and you have to take the head phones off to adjust them. My other issue is that the headphone say in the description that they include a charger, but they don't. (I call Sennheiser about this, and they said they were going to update the description, so perhaps you won't notice this.) But know that if you have multiple headphones sharing a single base, you won't be able to charge them at the same time. I bought a separate set of rechargeable AAA batteries to ensure i would never be stuck without a charged headset.
sennheiser HDR 180 lesson learn
I own a set of Sennheiser RS 170 with transmitter headphones and I watch the sennheiser video that said you could add up to 4 headphones So I decide to get a extra set of headphones and upgrade to the HDR 180 headphones . So I got them in a couple days put the battery's and turn them on nothing happen no sound. So I email Senneiser and they told me that only the HDR 170 work only on the 170 transmitter and the HDR 180's on the 180 transmitter . So I hope this will help anybody who may be thinking about adding a extra set of headphones who already have either the 170 or the 180 headsets . PS I highly recommend sennheiser headphones I really enjoy mine and some people have complain about the buttons. I have found after a while of using them you will learn where the buttons are and can turn the volume up and down with no problem at all.
