Disappointing coming from the RS180s
After using the RS180s for several years, i was thrilled to pick up the RS 220s as their suitable replacement. As soon as they became available, i ordered them and waited patiently for them to arrive.
To keep this short and simple, the early models of the RS220s came with a large number of flaws, the main one being constant signal loss even on a full charge, regardless of the distance of the receiver, and connection. I will be Warrantying these to Sennheiser at my earliest convenience in hopes that this will be corrected and will write a follow-up review at that time. As it stands, huge disappointment as a longtime Sennheiser supporter. At least they're comfortable.
*Follow Up Edit- I ordered a replacement set of the 220s and just got them today in hopes that my issues would be resolved, but they are going as strong as they always have been. I've come to the decision that it's likely they're not functioning properly due to being in an apartment building. So...
Don't buy
I'm leaving my formerly positive the review below for posterity.
After about a week of using these, I will be returning them immediately. I just tried listening to music with the headphones in a fairly uncluttered room, with very little other electrical equipment in the room or nearby. Putting the transmitter in every conceivable place in the room, even holding the transmitter in my hand less than three inches from my face, the headphones were still cutting out several times per second (and, yes, on a full charge). They have been highly inconsistent in the same environment all throughout the past week. This is beyond unacceptable.

I love these headphones! I spent some time after I first got them going over my favorite songs and pieces and found them to be very versatile. I can fall in love with my music library all over again. The ear pads are soft and breathe well, and the weight on the head is noticeable (good) without being fatiguing (bad)...
Not a wireless version of the HD600s
I recently purchased these headphones from crutchfield and have subsequently returned them. For wireless headphones, these are truly remarkable and I have not heard any other wireless headphones that come close to their sound quality. However, contrary to what these headphones are advertised as, they are not a wireless version of the HD600s or the HD650s. I did find that the upper and lower frequencies were not as sufficiently presented compared to the aforementioned models and they did sound a little "thin". The soundstage was excellent with a definite sense of air between the different instruments. The frequency response of the RS220 is 16-22,000 Hz while the HD600s have a frequency response of 12 - 39,000 Hz. I own the HD598, HD600 and HD650 so I was able to compare these headphones to all three. I do believe that wireless technology has a long way to go before we can expect anything that sounds like their wired counterparts. They are still excellent if you do not mind parting...
