Terrific headphones
I have owned lots of headphones, but these really blew me away. Here is why I like them.
1. These are well made, comfortable to wear, and sound fantastic. Rock, Jazz, R&B, Country, Classical--they all sound great. The bass is distinctive but not too overpowering, and the treble is nice and clear. The stereo effect will make you think you are at a concert.
2. I use these with my iPhone 4S, and only have to turn the volume on my phone to the halfway mark to get a really loud and bold sound. With other headphones, I have to raise the volume button much higher to get the right sound. This tells me how powerful these headphones are.
3. Although these are not noise cancelling headphones, as a practical matter I can't hear what is going on around me when I have them on. As an experiment I turned on my TV and sat on a couch right by my surround sound speakers--all I heard was the music that I was playing on my iPhone 4S.

A really good product. JBL has managed to retain its reputation with this one. Bass is very rich and so is the treble. JBL has designed the J series for premium sound quality, integrating their professional Sound expertise into the consumer line. Excellent sound quality, in fact premium sound quality, on par with any $250-$300 range headphone. An excellent value for money over Beats, monster, Soul or any other brand. Only drawback is the build quality, not metal (although has a metal head band) and its plastic, which is sort of flimsy. It comes with premium wiring and a proprietary gold plated JBL aux cable with 2.5mm at one and and 3.5mm at the other, so make sure not to loose it as it wont be available from 3rd party sellers. Great Mid-Range Headphones That Delivers Many Excellent Qualities
Audio is very important to me and it seems I've been on a never-ending quest for the perfect affordable headphone. Ever since my Sony noise canceling headphones croaked I've been searching but can't bring myself to spend $200 on headphones again. JBL is a very reputable company and they know how to do quality. I was a projectionist and can tell you that most movie theaters use JBL speakers in their auditoriums. I was excited to see what they would bring to an upscale headset. After using them for a few weeks I can say that they are decent but far from perfect.
They sound great for their construct. They have great sound replication and handle all ranges quite well. They may lack the "oomph" on the lows that some other headphones deliver, but I'm not a fan of bass heavy phones anyway. I listen to mostly film scores and they do a great job at handling intricate sounds and textures as well as the wall-to-wall sound of pop and rock. The sound isn't as full-bodies as I hoped it...
