excellent Blu-Ray player
received the BluRay player yesterday. Plays all my dvd's and Bluray discs w/o any difficulties. Set up was a breeze. As soon as it connected to my wireless internet router, it asked to update the firmware. which i did. I have a Samsung Smart TV and the TV remote controls both the Bluray player and the television. Granted the Bluray controls are basic but still useful. The Blu-ray remote has more functionality but really not needed. Connected the Blu-ray player to Samsung TV via HDMI cable. works like a charm. I can even connect to various internet media just like the smart television. FYI: I burnt a Blu-ray disc with multiple .AVI files and this player recognized and played the ".avi" files without any problems. Will update if I find any negative aspect of this purchase. So far it has been a very good purchase for the price.
Screen sharing review
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S4 & wanted a way to mirror its screen to my TV. I tried a number of MHL adapters with no luck. I had finally almost settled on the official Samsung MHL adapter, but at the price, wasn't quite sold on it. I went to the local big box store to see if they had any other options. The MHL adapter they had also has bad reviews so I didn't bother with that. I paired my phone up to one of their expensive TV's with allshare cast built in. It paired right up & worked perfectly. Not wanting to spend $3000+ on a TV, I went over to the Blu-ray player section & found this one. Took it home & hooked it up & got picture, but the sound only came out of one speaker. I downloaded the updated firmware for the player, tried it again & now everything works perfectly. The picture quality on the screen mirroring is pretty good. HD video is not quite Blu-ray quality, but it's comparable to some of the streaming services available. The audio is acceptable but not great. It only...
Samsung BD-J5900 3D Wi-Fi Blu-Ray Player
Samsung BD-J5900 3D Wi-Fi Blu-Ray Player - This Player replaced an older Samsung product of mine that did not support Blu-Ray and for some reason did not play some commercial DVDs it should have. This player does play all the DVDs I have tested it with. The initial screen is easy to navigate, setup went well.
The only thing drawback is this player does not support network speeds equal to or below 10 Mbps. I did not see this piece of info on any of the various sites listing this player's features, questions and answers, or reviews. It is a footnote to the specifications on page 28 of the full online manual. Happens that my network speed is too slow for this player. So no streaming video.
