New technology isn't always the best. There is only one HDMI in the back so you must run the sound and picture through the stereo equipment. The front of the Sony sound system will only say "HDMI through" so you are never sure if sound mode you selected is playing. Second there is only one very small light on the front of the DVD to let you now it is on. It does give you a superb picture but then again there is no clue if the picture is 720, 1080 or 1080P. Even Blu-ray DVDs don't show it either unless it is in some kind of code.
