so far, so good...
the model i have is bdp2205 as indicated on the box. it was the one recently on sale(closer to 50 than 100) at target in july which is where i bought it. my 30 day return window is almost up so i thought i would give some impressions. budget blu ray players from philips have gotten tons of negative reviews, but so far i like mine and it has been working for me so im going to gamble and keep it past targets 30-day window.

* cheap price. i stick with dvds because im a big streamer now(netflix, amazon video, etc). but i finally broke down and bought one because companies are putting extras and bonus content more and more on the blu ray disc only and ignoring the dvd discs altogether. this was actually my main reason for even buying a blu ray player.
* easy set up. input your wifi info, then the menu with all the options available show up, and you are ready to go.
* netflix, youtube, and blurays/dvds works well so far. admittedly though, i...
Great player and also has a USB port to play ...
I've been looking for a Blu Ray player that would also play my English Region @ DVDs and this one does it. A simple hack entered form the remote make it play all region DVDS and does the required PAL to NTSC conversion on the fly. Great player and also has a USB port to play video files from an external USB drive or fglash drive. I had come to the conclusion all US bought Blu Rays would only play Region 1 DVDS until I found this one. I had luck with Philips DVDs player in the past so took a chance on this one and the hack worked like a charm. Very happy with the purchase AND It now plays Region A Blu Rays and Region 1 and 2 DVDs. Has WIFI connectivity though use the wired connection for network.
Region Free BD Player
Great no gimmick BD player. Can be programmed to be region 0 via remote control. Plays BD from opposite side of the Earth that the Sony BD player refuses to play.
