Panasonic DMP-BDT225 Smart Wi-Fi 3D Blu-ray Player

A Big Plus
Bought this to replace an existing DVD even tho the need for DVD is waning but it wound up replacing a ROKU I had in place. I found that it streams video from the internet faster and provided me with a much higher quality picture. I didn't buy it for that reason but that's how it worked out. Very pleased.

Plays Blu-rays
If you are buying this Blu-ray player to play Blu-rays only, you will be happy. I had to fight way too hard to get and keep the Wi-Fi up to play Netflix and Amazon, and then the streaming quality was not as good as a PS3. Everything else is a 'non-feature,' a come-on to get you to buy the thing, but more trouble than it is worth.

Do not buy this to match your Panasonic TV or reduce your number of remotes. The TV functionality on the player remote is not sufficient to put your TV remote away. Panasonic makes a superior television, but in no way does that ability apparently transfer over to making Blu-ray players. You will be fighting this thing to do 95% of what it says it can do, and where you finally get it to work, it will usually be crap.

One example (of dozens) of a non-feature: the BDT225 says you can put pictures on profiles, but the profile pictures are square, and the only source it draws from (the screen) is rectangular. Thus, the pictures are squished,...

It works real fine, I watch Blu ray movies with no problem
It works real fine, I watch Blu ray movies with no problem. Internet is fast, I watch Netflix with no problem, I haven't found yet any "publicity" problems as I read in other reviews (It was probably updated). All Internet content starts with no delay at all. Really a good buy.
