Sennheiser S1 Digital Adaptive Noiseguard Pilot Headset

Bose A20/ Sennheiser S1/ Lightspeed Zulu 2.0
First of all i want to say that there is no right or wrong headset. All 3 are great. Depends on what you are looking for and the price.
Bose A20:
Great noise cancellation.
Cable is great and does not tangle easily.
Comfortable.
Lacks stereo bluetooth to stream audio. Bluetooth works for phone calls.
Includes 3.5mm cable to use for other devices.

Sennheiser S1:
Very comfortable.
Music controls on remote is a great advantage.
Cable and remote are just the right length to be in reach while flying.
Does not include a 3.5 mm jack. So will only function as bluetooth stereo headphones. Can be used for music streaming.
Extremely compact.
Includes port to charge device from aircraft power.

Lightspeed Zulu 2.0:
Comfortable
Can be used for bluetooth audio.
Includes 3.5mm jack to be used for other devices.
Flightlink app can be used with ipad for recording conversations.( havent used it...

Had to Return It
Background: I fly the KingAir 350, owned several sets of the Bose aviation headsets, was (is) looking for a replacement due to normal wear.

The Good: Bluetooth interaction is great (full control of your IPod), design and construction was nice, more adjustments for comfort than other headsets. FYI...I was one of those guys who couldn't understand why you'd want to listen to your IPod while flying. That was until I tried it. Granted I do a lot of cross country flying, but I think you'll like it, as well.

The Bad: Boom mic does not sit directly in front of your mouth, a little bulky, and I was not blown away by the sound quality

The Ugly: The noise canceling properties need constant resetting (button on side of headset) due to any changes - break seal, change altitudes, engine rpm, chewing gum, etc.

Thus far, the Bose A20 is the best...it's not just hype. I'm going to give the Light Speed Zulu a shot before settling on the A20 because...

Fully lives up to manufacturers claims and more!
As a filmmaker I have always know Sennheiser to be a manufacturer of quality audio product and these headphones more than live up to my expectations. The noise reduction works excellently and I have - to my own great surprise - actually used the bluetooth functions with great success. Who'd a thought that I would be listening to music or talking on the phone via a pilot headset? The only negative thing I might say is that I find the design a tad "clunky" but, with the functionality being what it is, who cares?
