A Stylish, Understated Performer
I chose this Blu-Ray player as a companion for my Samsung 3D LED TV. They actually share many features, such as Apps, SmartTV, and interface "look and feel", and can even be controlled using a single remote control, which helps cut down on the number remotes around the lounge. The player can also be controlled via an Android App, which passes commands via the TV and a remote control relay cable that was included with my TV.
By having a Samsung Blu-Ray player and TV, I was also able to turn on a "smart" display mode on this player which communicates with the TV, and automatically adjusts TV display settings for optimal presentation of Blu-Ray content. So far, my experience with this has been very positive indeed - displayed images have beautiful and appropriate colour, contrast, and brightness.

As noted in other reviews, this player is very lightweight. I do not think that constitutes "poor" build quality, however. It's just light because electronics don't weigh much and there's no reason to increase the cost of the device by using a metal housing when plastic works fine.
The device supports all the options I was looking for right out of the box. I have an older receiver so the optical (TOSlink) audio output was a must and it works beautifully. Amazon Prime Instant Video and Netflix playback is excellent. The remote is well designed and the interface is much snappier and faster than I expected for a Blu Ray player. It also supports DLNA certified network storage and works wonderfully when streaming MP4, MOV, and AVI files from a WD My Cloud drive on the same network.

Great product that works flawlessly
I was in a rush to get this so I did not do my usual Amazon purchase. Broke down and got it locally. I paired this with my new Samsung Un65F8000. After the initial hook up I played Avatar in 3D. I am a tech buff and what a pleasant surprise. It was theater quality. My tv came with 4 pair of glasses so I invited the party neighbors over. They went out and bought one of these the next day. I hooked it for them and they love it. The regular 2d works great as well as blue rays along with non blue rays thanks to the 4K up scaling. The smart hub has all the common apps and the remote is ok even though there is no eject button? Really?. My only other complaint is the somewhat flimsy build that Samsung did. That is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. They could of made it a tad more solid. As far as the guy with the 1 star review, I would just ignore that. His problem was his tv is not capable of handling the Samsung 3d player and he blamed the 3d player for that. Very unfair...
