My only complaint: too much bass
This is the third generation of Senheiser behind-the-neck headphones I've had. Previously I had the PMX-60 (which I still have and still works), and before that I had the PMX-200, which is no longer available.
In comparison to those earlier models, the PMX-95 is much more sturdy and substantial, while still being very lightweight. The ear pads are larger diameter, thicker, and more comfortable than those of the -60 and -200. There is less sound leakage -- you can still hear ambient noise just as much, but others cannot hear your headphones as much. The cord is also much nicer and does not tangle at all. Major kudo's to Senheiser for this. The ear pieces actually rotate back and forth with about 30 degrees or so of play, so you can position the neckband up or down for best fit. This also beats the -60 and -200, although those were both very comfortable as well. (I especially liked the leather-like ear pads of the -200, although its ear clips were a bit annoying.)...
A Surprising Delight
Good old Sennheiser, will you ever stop impressing me? These headphones are amazing. For some reason, I've always liked the neckband fit for headphones, and I know that over the ear, versus in the ear, headphones have superior sound quality all around, since they have room to breathe.
Pros:
-Fantastic sound quality.
-Sturdy looking cable.
-Listening comfort is off the charts due to the slightly adjustable ear cups and slightly loose fit.
-Booming bass (not common in these types of headphones).
-Clear and precise treble and mid.
Cons:
-So good, you can sometimes hear a little static in lower bit rate files. (Is this a con, or just motivation?)
-The bass can static up a bit if you amp the bass, or turn it up to deafening volume.
-The cord is a touch short for my taste, but again, these are not studio headphones.
-Sound leakage is pretty bad, so don't wear these loud in a library or someplace that is supposed to be...
Great bass!
These headphones have been stellar so far. I replaced my cheap (and malfunctioning) Philips headphones with these a few weeks ago. The bass is incredible. The cord is an interesting non-tangle material, which is nice, and the headphones are very comfortable. My only wish would be for them to have the "iDevice" microphone and volume/track buttons on the cord, but I can live without that. Overall I'm impressed with the sound and build quality.
