The Sennheiser Momentum is a product series whose goal is to merge the two most difficult attributes in modern day headphones, style and sonic performance. Here before you is the refinement of the original Momentum that started it all, the Momentum 2.
The Momentum 2's packaging is typical of Sennheiser and immediately showcases quality and first class workmanship. Upon removal of the lid, the much reduced in size case is first apparent. The cable is mostly similar to the first iteration but no longer does it have the steel constructed in-line microphone and controls. You then get your typical quick start guide and Sennheiser's 2 year warranty registration booklet. Here is where the Momentum 2 simply outclasses nearly all headphones immediately. Not only do you get a protective zipper case, you also get a pouch. Amazing sound even when compared side by side to my HD 650s. Tried on many closed cans before settling on this one, couldn't be happier with my choice. I wanted to stay Sennheiser because every company has a unique sound to their headphones, and since I already had the HD650, the contrast would have driven me insane. The contenders were the 400 series, 280s, 380s, and urbanites. 400s were great for their price point, but lacking. 280/380 were more studio then street headphone, but obviously had great sound. Urbanites were a disappointment to capture the "beats" crowd. I compared all these headphones side by side to Momentum version 1, and found the M1s far superior.
Sound Quality: The sound is perfect. I compared to my HD 650s, and honestly for a closed can they hold up amazing. Highs and lows are hit wonderfully. Some complain it is a bit bass heavy, but personally I have no complaints. It is one of the most clear sounding headphones I have every tried on...

I liked the original momentums, but they were simply too small for my ears. If not for that, they'd have been perfect.
Enter the Momentum 2nd generation, with softer earcups and a larger earcup diameter. Now my ears fit snugly inside them and they don't press on the edges of my ears like the original did.
The sound also seems more balnced than before, with more clarity in the mid-highs.
These are an amazing set of headphones and I can't recommend them enough.
