LG Electronics 65EG9600 65-Inch 4k Ultra HD 3D Curved OLED TV

Best TV ever
LG 65EG9600 Review.
First off-I am not a video tech like others here on this forum so I can not even talk to some of the threads on this forum. I am just a retired engineer that wants a good TV picture to watch sports and movies. I have always been disappointed with the LCD when they shifted to LED backlight (edge lit). So with that caveat, had only a few days to run my new LG 65EG9600 OLED, but here are some observations. Of note, LG refused to post this review on their web site claiming I did not follow their guidelines-guess too many negatives. But seriously, The goods far outpace the bad on this TV and I am very happy for my purchase
1-TV passes Dolby 5.1 via optical out only for streamed sources. And sources inputted via HDMI get converted to PCM. Fix is to direct audio sources direct to your amplifier per LG advice. Did not have this issue with Sony-so its a LG design issue. Several web based comments saying that LG dummies the input signal to PCM

This TV is phenomenal, but it is not the holy grail of image quality LG would like you to believe.
Let me start by saying I am an avid videophile who regularly uses top-end CRTs and plasmas. I have had my eye on OLED for over a decade and with both CRT and plasma extinct there is a lot riding on OLED. This television shows a lot of promise for the technology, but its implementation unfortunately is not up to par with older display technologies in certain key areas that are important to me.

This makes a very dark movie like Eden Log a rather unpleasant experience at best; the black level is constantly shifting for large vertical strips of the screen, something that does not happen watching this film on a good plasma or CRT.

Motion clarity is also not what LG wants you to believe. It is true the...

Ok, I will keep it simple: If God is watching TV, this is the TV he is using.

I have the 2014 OLED and it was the best TV I owned before this one (I have the top Samsung and Sony 65' sets from 2014).

This set become available just in time for the big fight this weekend.

Video settings is an opinionated subject, everyone has their preference.. but with an upscaled Blu-Ray (see picture) with the video setting on "Game" (tweaked a small bit) it gets the WOW factor from visitors.. the Blu-Ray Spider-Man 2 looks better than the 4K media player version I purchased for my Sony XBR-X900B.

It's expensive but after a hard day of work, this TV will help you get through a rough day with something to look forward to when you get home.

If you have a $10,000 limit credit card, this is the one and only purchase (outside of an emergency) that will be worth the $400 a month you will be paying for the rest of your life to pay off the...
