Great in-ear headphones for a good price.
I gave these earphones 5/5 for a number of reasons that I will list in this review right now. But first let me describe what I listen to and what my experience with earphones is like. I am a previous owner of the Sennheiser IE 8 IEMs. Those were amazing earphones, a real joy to listen to. Unfortunately, they were lost in an unfortunate partying accident. I also own a pair of Monster beats that I have used for my workouts, nothing more (I got them on an incredible sale and I needed earphones that I wouldn't feel sorry for in a gym). I listen to rock, metal, fusion, jazz, soundtracks, blues and old school funk. I consider myself a moderate audiophile and I have a massive original album collection (over 450 CDs). I also own two pairs of pro studio monitor phones (Roland and AKG).
So, now on to the review:
1. In the store where I was buying these in-ear heaphones, I compared them to the Beyerdynamic T50, to Sennheiser IE 8, and to my regular Monster Beats. Let me say...
These sound amazing. When I first got them I didn't like ...
These are my first pair of hifi earbuds. I've been listening to them with my fiio e18 plugged into my computer through usb playing spotify premium with high quality streaming selected so 320 kbits. These sound amazing. When I first got them I didn't like them at all. I read around and decided I would let them sit while playing pink noise for a week before listening to them again and they sounded awesome. I just needed to get over the overwhelming amount of bass I was used to from my previous cheap junk headphones. I would recommend these ie60's to anybody looking for a pair of earbuds with awesome bass that doesn't drown everything else out.
For the price these are excellent. The sound is crisp
For the price these are excellent. The sound is crisp, which is particularly good for classical, jazz and improvised music. When I first heard these, I thought that they were lacking a bottom end. Then I tested them out with Massive Attack's album, Mezzanine (320 kbps mp3s). The drums in "Inertia Creeps" and "Man Next Door" (for example) really kick and the bass throbs without the distortion that you get with most lower priced in-earphones. You need to have these positioned in your ear correctly. Oddly enough, they're best positioned, on the right, upside down (like they're supposed to be) but on the left, like a regular earphones. BTW, you won't resolve things by pushing them further into the ear canal. They're meant to sit just inside. Do I blame my ears or the design for the positioning problem? Probably the design, but once they're in I really don't notice it.
